In a person’s (or an organization's) life, the support needed for us to survive is incredible. Recognizing this vast network of contributions renews our sense of belonging and confirms how connected we are. In fact, the list is nearly endless. This is especially true for the library, which is a community effort shaped by the energy and care of many people, both past and present.

Starting now with these acknowledgments, we will keep updating this living record of appreciation. If we have missed someone or if there’s another contribution that should be included, please let us know. Your additions will help us fully honor the network of people and histories that inform and support this effort.

Thank you to those who cleared the path and laid the ground in years past. Thank you to all who keep this work alive now and carry it forward.

Thank you to all who gather to participate and learn with goodwill, curiosity, and courage — you who explore how to be more alive, how, to be real, how to be human. Many of you carry what you learn into the world, offering it directly to others or simply through your way of being. Without your willingness to show up, this work would remain only an idea. You are the emissaries of awareness, choice, and trust.

Thank you to all who provide financial support. Your willingness to contribute makes it possible for us to dedicate ourselves to this effort. We “play it forward” with commitment and appreciation of your support.

Thank you to all the teachers and visionaries, past and present, who explore new ideas, challenge assumptions, and go beyond what is standard or comfortable.

Thank you to those who create space for healing—with kindness, patience, tolerance, and respect—and invite us to return to ourselves.

Thank you to those who transform their pain and suffering into wisdom and new opportunities and show us how to do the same.

Thank you to all the “imperfect masters” who step forward to offer what they can — sometimes revealing their humanness in failure while still sharing priceless gems along the way. You show us that we don’t have to wait for perfection before offering our love and care.

Thank you to the qualities of love, trust, truth, humor, tolerance, clarity, time, and space. As we (re)connect with you, we heal and grow. We become more open, more present, and more whole.

Many people helped launch this library. These acknowledgements are a beginning. As we name some of those whose efforts made this possible, we remember that each contribution—of time, skill, and financial support—is essential. We were given these resources, and we hope that what we build now will support those who follow.

Richard “Dick” Price (1930–1985)

Dick Price, was the originator of gestalt practice and co-founder of Esalen Institute. He devoted his life to exploring awareness and creating a trustworthy, nourishing environment where people could engage in healing and growth without coercion. Drawing on his work with Fritz Perls and integrating influences from Buddhism, Taoism, Reichian work and many somatic approaches, he developed an educational, community-based approach he called gestalt practice.

Dick taught primarily at Esalen Institute, sitting with thousands of participants in workshops and circles. His teaching emphasized presence, direct experience, and trusting process. The Gestalt Practice Library and Resource Center exists largely because of his vision and dedication. To read more about his life and the practice he created, visit the Richard Price page.

The Founding Board Members Chris, Dorothy, Sharon

Deep gratitude to Ian Terry, Elizabeth Terry and Aretetic Solutions for their deep dedication and endless hours of work in creating our website, database, tagging, and digital archiving system — a system that is at once complex and simple, responsive and reliable, and beautifully aligned with the values of gestalt practice. Their thoughtful design and steadfast partnership have given form to something we only imagined, allowing this living archive to serve and grow for years to come.
